Free POS for cafes and coffee shops

Coffee is a volume trade: the queue at 8am judges your till by how few taps it takes to ring a cortado and a croissant. BelloPOS puts your regulars' orders one press away, keeps the terrace tables open alongside the counter, and prints the ticket while the cup is still being made.

It runs offline on an ordinary Windows PC or Mac, so a dropped connection never turns into a paper-and-pen morning. The free lifetime licence covers everything a counter needs (sales, receipts, stock and printer setup), which makes it a real free point of sale for a cafe in Morocco, not a trial that expires.

What you get

Built for the rush

Favourite items sit on the front grid, so the drinks you sell hundreds of times a day are a single tap. Take the next order while the last one prints.

Counter, terrace and takeaway together

Keep open tabs for the terrace while walk-ups pay immediately at the counter, and tell the two apart at the end of the day.

Receipt printer and cash drawer

Connect a thermal receipt printer and a cash drawer that opens on payment. Tickets carry your own header, and a shift close counts the drawer against what the till recorded.

Stock that follows the counter

Beans, milk, syrups and pastries come off stock as they sell, so you order on real numbers instead of a guess on Sunday night.

A cafe POS system for Australia's coffee counters

Australian cafés are judged on the morning rush. Between seven and nine, a Surry Hills or Fitzroy counter rings up flat whites, oat lattes, toasties and banana bread as fast as the barista can pour. BelloPOS puts your best sellers on the front grid, so most orders take a couple of taps before the customer taps their card on your EFTPOS terminal. Courtyard and footpath tables run as open tabs while walk-ups pay immediately, all in the same till and the same day's totals. The ticket prints on a thermal printer while the coffee is made, and the cash drawer opens only when it should.

Behind the counter, milk, beans, cups and pastries come off stock as they sell, so Monday's order is based on real numbers. Dine-in, hot takeaway and GST-free items can sit in the same sale. Set the tax on each item, and ask your accountant how to handle anything whose GST depends on where it is eaten. Everything runs on your own PC or Mac, so a dropped NBN connection never means a paper-and-pen morning. Start free, then pay once for Pro to add tables, a kitchen screen and several tills.

Every way Australians pay, recorded in one till

BelloPOS does not process cards and takes no cut of your sales. Customers pay on the EFTPOS terminal you already have from your bank or provider, or in cash, and you record each payment in BelloPOS so the day's totals add up.

  • EFTPOS debit cards on your existing terminal
  • Tap and go: contactless cards, phones and watches (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay)
  • Visa, Mastercard and American Express credit cards
  • Cash, with a cash drawer that opens on payment and a counted close at the end of the shift
  • Split payments, for example part cash and part card
  • Buy now pay later (such as Afterpay or Zip) taken through the provider, then recorded as its own payment method
  • Bank transfer or PayID for trade and wholesale accounts
  • Customer credit: let regulars buy on account, set a limit and see what each one owes

Because the card is processed by your own terminal, your merchant fees stay with your bank or provider. Key the amount into the terminal, then record the payment in BelloPOS.

Cafe POS questions from Australian owners

How fast can we take an order in the morning rush?

Your top drinks and pastries sit on the front grid, so a standard order is a few taps. The customer then pays on your EFTPOS terminal, and you record the payment in BelloPOS. The receipt prints while the coffee is made, and nothing waits on an internet connection, because the till runs on your own computer.

How do we handle dine-in and takeaway GST?

Food eaten on the premises and hot takeaway food generally include GST, while some cold takeaway food is GST-free. In BelloPOS you set the tax on each product. Where the same item changes status depending on how it is sold, many cafés create a separate button for each version. Confirm the right approach with your accountant, using the ATO's food guidance.

Can we run table tabs and counter sales together?

Yes. On Pro, open tabs for courtyard or indoor tables while takeaway customers pay straight away at the counter. You can move a bill between tables or split it between friends. At the end of the day you see both in the same totals, and the drawer is counted against what the till recorded.

Does it work on an iPad?

Not on an iPad. BelloPOS runs on Windows PCs, Macs (macOS 12 or later) and Android tablets (Android 7 or later). On Pro, staff can also take orders on a phone or tablet browser with the handheld cashier web app, connected to the main till over your local network.

What does a cafe POS cost with BelloPOS?

The Lite plan is free for life and covers selling, receipts, stock and printer setup. For tables, a kitchen screen and several tills, Pro is a one-time licence or a monthly key, with setup done for you. Prices are shown in Australian dollars on the pricing page, with no lock-in contract.
