sales-by-day.pdfSales today or this month, best sellers, stock value, low stock, who owes you money, what each cashier did.
Ares adds and edits products, prices and customers, fixes stock, rings up a sale and prints it. You just ask.
Type or send a voice note. Ares understands typos and mixed languages, like French, Arabic, Darija and English, and answers in yours.
On Telegram, ask from anywhere. Get reports, alerts when stock runs low or a sale is deleted, and send product photos straight to your catalog.
Any report as PDF, Excel or CSV, without opening a single menu.
Ares only does what each user is allowed to do, and asks before deleting or changing many things at once.
Your tills, your waiters' phones and the kitchen screen all work on a single database that sits in your shop, not in the cloud, not on someone else's server.
One computer holds the database: products, stock, prices, sales and staff. It is the machine that stays on, and everything else simply connects to it.
Your local network · no internet needed

Extra checkout stations join over your own network, by cable or Wi-Fi. A sale rung up on one till shows on all of them straight away, and the stock count follows.

Your waiter takes the order at the table from a phone browser. Nothing to install, no app store, and nothing to type again at the counter.

Orders appear in the kitchen the moment they are sent, on any phone or tablet browser. No paper tickets, no slips lost between the room and the pass.
The database is on your own PC. If the internet drops, and it does, the tills, the phones and the kitchen keep working.
Take Pro as a lifetime licence: no fee per till, no yearly renewal, no bill that grows with your turnover. Prefer monthly? Buy a key only for the months you need.
Start with one till today. Add a second station, the waiters' phones and the kitchen screen when the business is ready: same app, same data.
Multi-terminal, the handheld app and the kitchen app are included in the Pro licence.

What store owners told us after switching to BelloPOS.
Even when the internet drops, BelloPOS keeps selling and printing receipts. Our counter never stops, and that is exactly what I needed.
I installed it myself in one afternoon. The barcode scanner and the receipt printer worked straight away, no technician needed.
Paying once instead of every month made the choice easy. And the free updates keep bringing features we actually use.
Now I know exactly what is in stock and which customers still owe me money. It saves me time every single day.

What each module does, the screens it uses, and the questions merchants ask about it.
The till screen your staff will actually use: one tap per item, one second per payment, and nothing waiting on a connection.
Every sale and every delivery moves the count, so what the screen says is what is actually on the shelf.
Any scanner works out of the box, and anything without a barcode gets one you print yourself.
A thermal ticket for the queue, a proper PDF invoice for the customer who asks, both out of the same sale.
Know who is in front of you, what they bought last time, and the details their next invoice needs.
Set the limit before the sale, follow every debit and payment, and hand the customer a statement that adds up.
Record what arrived and what you paid, then let stock, cost prices and supplier history update together.
What sold, what earned, who sold it and what to order next, without exporting anything to a spreadsheet.
The floor, the pass and the bill on one system, still running when the line goes down mid service.
A phone left for repair, a haircut booked for 10 o'clock, a leak to fix at a customer's: one ticket per job, one number, nothing lost.
Not an offline mode that catches up later: the software simply runs where your shop is.
One PC holds the data, the other terminals talk to it over your own network, and nothing leaves the building.
Everyone gets their own login, each role gets exactly the buttons it should have, and the history says who did what.
Most cloud till systems need the internet for every sale. In South Africa that is a risk: when the power goes, the fibre router and the cell tower backup often go with it, and the queue starts walking out. BelloPOS keeps everything on the computer at your counter. Put the PC and slip printer on a small UPS or inverter, and you keep scanning, printing till slips and counting stock for as long as the lights are off. Customers tap on your own card machine, which runs on its battery and SIM, and you record the payment in BelloPOS. Nothing waits for a connection. When the power comes back, there is nothing to sync and nothing to re-enter: the day's sales are already in your report.
It is made for the way South Africans trade. A spaza shop in Soweto can run the free Lite plan on an old laptop. A takeaway in Durban can send orders to the kitchen and split bills with Pro. A hardware store in Pretoria can sell at trade prices to builders and keep an account book for regulars who pay at month-end. Prices on this site are shown in rand, the 7-day Pro trial needs no card, and our team sets up Pro and Pro+ for you, then helps on WhatsApp. A café in Gqeberha or a butchery in Johannesburg gets the same tools, in plain English, with the AI assistant Ares ready to answer questions like how much you sold this week.
A good POS system makes the paperwork easier, but the rules are set by SARS and the Information Regulator. Here is a plain summary of the points that touch your till, with the official source for each. Rules change, so confirm anything that affects your business with your accountant.
SARS says a VAT vendor must issue a full tax invoice when the price is more than R5 000, may issue an abridged tax invoice at R5 000 or less, and needs no tax invoice at R50 or less, where a till slip showing the VAT is used instead. The invoice must be issued within 21 days. BelloPOS lets you put your shop name, address and VAT number on every slip and make numbered invoices.
sars.gov.zaSARS levies VAT at the standard rate of 15%, and a limited range of goods is zero-rated, including basic foodstuffs such as brown bread and maize meal. Prepared, ready-to-eat food is generally standard-rated. In BelloPOS you set the VAT rate on each product, so a grocery can mix zero-rated staples and standard-rated items on one slip. Ask your accountant which rate applies to each line.
sars.gov.zaSARS says that from 1 April 2026 it applies a compulsory VAT registration threshold of R2.3 million in taxable supplies a year, up from R1 million, and a voluntary threshold of R120 000. SARS also notes the change still has to pass through Parliament's legislative process. Your BelloPOS reports show your sales totals, but whether you must register is a question for your accountant.
sars.gov.zaSARS says a VAT vendor must keep tax invoices, import and export documents and proper accounting records for five years, as the audit trail SARS uses to check compliance. BelloPOS keeps every sale on your own PC and can export the invoices of a period as PDF. Back up your data regularly, to a USB stick or with the scheduled backups in Go and above.
sars.gov.zaThe Tax Administration Act lets SARS prescribe how electronic records must be kept, including where they are stored and how quickly you can hand them over. SARS published a draft public notice on this in 2021, and we could not confirm the final current version. If you rely on BelloPOS data as your records, check the current SARS notice with your accountant.
sars.gov.zaIf you keep customer names and phone numbers, for an account book or a loyalty list, POPIA applies to how you collect, use and protect them. The Information Regulator says sole proprietors and small businesses that process personal information must register an Information Officer. Promotional SMS or WhatsApp messages generally need the customer's consent. BelloPOS keeps this data on your own PC, not in our cloud.
inforegulator.org.zaBelloPOS is not certified, registered or approved by SARS or any other South African authority, and this summary is not tax or legal advice. Tax rules change, so check with your accountant or tax practitioner before relying on it.
South Africans still pay with cash, but tap, QR codes and instant EFT are growing fast. BelloPOS records each payment by method so your cash-up balances, while the money itself goes through the card machine or app you already use.
BelloPOS does not connect to card machines or process payments itself. The customer pays on your existing card machine or app, and you record the method and amount in BelloPOS.
Bread, airtime, cold drinks and loose sweets all day long, with cash on the counter and a card machine for the rest. The owner scans what has a barcode and prints labels for what does not. Regulars buy on the book and settle on payday, with Go tracking each balance. When load shedding hits, a small UPS keeps the laptop and slip printer going, and selling carries on.
Lunch rush, phone orders and a queue out the door. With Pro, the counter sends each order to a kitchen printer, staff take orders at the tables from their own phones, and split bills take seconds. Every sale is saved on the PC in the shop, so a fibre outage on Florida Road never stops service. The owner checks the day's best sellers each night.
Builders and walk-in customers want different prices. BelloPOS Go keeps a trade price group for contractors, so the right price appears when their account is picked at the till. Cement, screws and paint are scanned in from supplier deliveries against purchase orders, and low-stock alerts flag what to reorder. Numbered invoices with the store's VAT number print for the builders who need them.
Sizes, colours and seasonal stock make counting by hand slow. The owner prints barcode labels for every item, sells on a laptop near the fitting rooms and sees which lines move on the best-seller report. Tourists tap their cards on the shop's card machine, locals pay with SnapScan, and each payment is recorded by method so the cash-up matches at closing.
Yes, as long as the computer or tablet has power. BelloPOS runs on your own PC, Mac or Android tablet and does not need the internet to sell, print till slips or count stock, so a dead router or a weak signal does not stop the till. Many shops run the PC, slip printer and cash drawer from a small UPS or inverter. Your card machine runs on its own battery and SIM, and you record each payment in BelloPOS. Only Ares AI and plan activation need the internet.
Yes. BelloPOS Lite is free for good, not a trial. You can sell, print till slips, add products, scan barcodes, track stock and use a customer screen on one till. We never ask for a card. When you want an account book for regulars, trade prices, scheduled backups or Ares AI, move up to Go. Restaurants and shops with more than one till usually choose Pro.
The pricing page shows every plan in rand. Go, Pro and Pro+ are sold as a one-time licence that you keep for good, or as a monthly or yearly key paid upfront, with no debit order and no automatic renewal. If a key ends, the app goes back to Lite and keeps all your data. You can try every Pro feature free for 7 days first, and paid plans have a 14-day money-back guarantee.
Yes. You choose what appears at the top of the slip: shop name, address, phone number and VAT number. You set the VAT rate for each product, including 0% for zero-rated items, and the slip shows the VAT. With Go you can also make numbered invoices with the customer's details. BelloPOS is not approved by SARS, so ask your accountant to confirm your slips and invoices meet the rules for your business.
Yes, side by side. BelloPOS does not connect to card machines or process payments. The customer taps or inserts their card on your existing machine, and you choose card as the payment method in BelloPOS. The same goes for SnapScan, Zapper and EFT. Your daily report then shows cash, card and other methods separately, so cashing up is quick.
A Windows PC or laptop, or a Mac running macOS 12 or later. A touch screen, an 80 mm or 58 mm slip printer, a USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner and a cash drawer are useful but optional, and most models you can buy locally will work. BelloPOS also runs on Android tablets (Android 7 or later). With Pro, extra tills and waiters' phones connect to the main PC over your shop's own Wi-Fi.
You can install Lite yourself in a few minutes. Pro and Pro+ include our Ready-to-Sell Pack: we install BelloPOS, set up your printer, scanner and cash drawer, add your products and train your staff, remotely and on WhatsApp. Pro+ adds all your products loaded for you, data imported from Excel or your old system, and 12 months of priority help. Go buyers can ask questions on WhatsApp too.
On your own computer, in your shop. BelloPOS does not send your sales or customer details to the cloud, which is why it keeps working offline and why you stay in control of your customers' personal information under POPIA. Because the data lives on one machine, make backups: copy them to a USB stick on any plan, or let Go and above back up on a schedule.
