BelloPOS for your trade

Free restaurant POS software

Tables, the kitchen pass and the bill, on a point of sale that keeps taking orders when the internet drops.

Free download for Windows · checking the latest release… · works offline

Free restaurant POS software

A restaurant lives or dies on service speed, and a till that waits for a server somewhere else is a till that stops your dining room. BelloPOS runs entirely on the Windows PC or Mac at your counter: orders, tables, the kitchen screen and printed receipts all work with the connection unplugged, because nothing has to leave the building to be saved.

Start on the free lifetime licence and pay nothing at all: a genuinely free restaurant POS for Morocco. When you want table plans, the kitchen display and purchase tracking, pay once and sell forever, or go monthly with no commitment; nothing renews automatically and no card is kept on file.

What you get

Tables and floor plan

Lay out your rooms and terrace, seat a party, and keep every table's running total in front of you. Move a bill between tables, or split it between diners, without restarting the order.

Kitchen orders that arrive instantly

Send each course straight to a kitchen screen or printer as it is taken. Cooks see what is waiting and what is ready, so the pass and the floor stop shouting at each other.

Receipt printer support

Print the ticket on a 58 mm or 80 mm thermal printer, or on any printer your computer already uses. Customise the header, add your ICE and tax lines, and export an invoice to PDF when a customer asks for one.

Staff accounts and permissions

Give every waiter their own login and decide exactly what each role can see: who can void a line, apply a discount, or open the cash drawer, and what appears in the day's totals.

  5. 5Close the day with a cash count and totals per waiter, server or shift.

Restaurant EPOS for UK restaurants, pubs with food and takeaways

UK restaurants run on tight margins, and a hospitality EPOS subscription with per-device fees adds up quickly. BelloPOS Pro gives you a table plan that matches your dining room, split bills, orders moved between tables, a kitchen screen on any tablet or phone browser, and a handheld app so staff can take orders at the table. Everything runs from one computer in the restaurant over your own network, so a broadband outage in the middle of Saturday service does not stop orders reaching the pass.

Eat-in food and drink is standard-rated for VAT, while takeaway food can fall under different rules depending on whether it is hot or cold, so a restaurant that also does collection or delivery often needs more than one rate. BelloPOS lets you set the VAT rate on each menu item and tags delivery orders with their delivery company, so your takings are easier to check. Agree your VAT treatment with your accountant, and let the till apply it consistently.

How customers pay in the UK, and how BelloPOS records it

Cards now make up the large majority of UK payments, with debit cards alone accounting for more than half and cash down to around one payment in twelve, according to UK Finance. Your till has to record every one of these correctly.

  • Contactless debit and credit cards, the everyday way to pay on the high street
  • Chip and PIN for larger amounts or when contactless is declined
  • Apple Pay, Google Pay and other mobile wallets, taken on the same card machine
  • Cash, with a float, cash in and out, and a counted drawer at close
  • Bank transfer and Faster Payments, common for trade and account customers
  • Customer credit (on account) for regulars who settle at the end of the week or month, with BelloPOS Go
  • Gift vouchers or other methods you add yourself as payment types

BelloPOS does not take card payments itself and is not connected to a card machine. You keep your own terminal from your bank or payment provider, take the payment there, and select the payment method in BelloPOS so your reports split cash and card correctly.

Restaurant EPOS questions

Which plan do I need for a restaurant?

Pro. It includes the restaurant module with tables, split bills, the kitchen screen, the handheld app for staff and several tills in one restaurant, plus the Ready-to-Sell Pack, where we install the software, add your menu and train your team remotely. A small takeaway with one counter and no table service can often start on Go, which adds delivery company tagging; discounts are on every plan.

How does BelloPOS handle VAT on eat-in and takeaway?

You set a VAT rate on each menu item, and BelloPOS applies it on every sale. HMRC's catering guidance says food and drink consumed on the premises is standard-rated, cold takeaway food is generally zero-rated and hot takeaway food is standard-rated when it meets certain tests. The rules have many exceptions, so confirm your rates with your accountant before you set up the menu.

Can staff take orders on their phones?

Yes, with Pro. The handheld app runs in a phone browser, so there is nothing to install from an app store. Staff pick the table, add items and send the order, which appears at once on the kitchen screen and on the main till for payment. Phones connect to the restaurant's own Wi-Fi network, so service carries on if the internet connection drops.

Can I split the bill?

Yes. With Pro you can split a table's bill between guests, move an order to another table and settle each part separately, by card on your own machine or in cash. Each payment is recorded with its method, so the end-of-night report shows card and cash takings correctly.

Does it connect to Deliveroo, Just Eat or Uber Eats?

No. BelloPOS does not integrate with delivery platforms, so orders from their tablets are not imported automatically. You ring them in at the till and tag each one with its delivery company, available from Go, so your reports show sales by platform and you can check them against each platform's statements.
