Free POS software for bars and lounges

A bar is a stream of small orders that add up over a night: a round here, two cocktails there, a plate of olives for the table in the corner. BelloPOS keeps every table's tab open and running, lets the counter ring a pint in one tap, and prints the bill the moment a guest asks for it, all on the Windows PC or Mac behind your bar, with no internet needed.

Pick "Bar" when you set BelloPOS up and the demo database opens on beers, wines, cocktails, soft drinks and bar snacks, in your language and currency, so you can try service before typing a single product. The free lifetime licence covers sales, receipts and stock; table plans and staff apps come with a paid plan, for life or by the month.

What you get

Open tabs per table

Start a tab, add rounds all evening and settle it at the end, in full or split between guests. The running total is always on screen.

One-tap rounds

Draught beers, house cocktails and softs sit on the front grid, so the busiest drinks are one press at the counter.

Stock that follows every pour

Bottles, kegs and mixers come off stock as they sell, so the night's close tells you what to reorder before the weekend.

Staff and the cash drawer

Each bartender logs in with their own PIN, roles decide who can void or discount, and the shift close counts the drawer against the till.

  4. 4Split or settle the bill, take cash or card and print the ticket.
  5. 5Close the shift with a counted drawer and totals per bartender.

A POS system for bars, sports bars and restaurants

Beer, Uganda Waragi and spirits are the most valuable stock in many Ugandan businesses, and the easiest to lose. BelloPOS scans every bottle and crate in and takes it out as it sells, whether it goes over the counter or to a table. Each barman or waiter logs in with their own account, roles decide who can void a sale, give a discount or open the drawer, and from Go the activity log records who did what and when. Stock counts show the gap between the system and the shelf, so missing bottles are spotted the same week, not at the end of the month.

A Friday night in a Kololo lounge, a Premier League weekend in a Jinja sports bar or a busy evening at a pork joint in Mbarara all look the same at the counter. With Pro, each table keeps a running bill that waiters add to from their phones over your own Wi-Fi, and orders print in the kitchen until the guests settle. Sales reports per staff member and a cash count at closing show who sold what. URA lists accommodation and food services among the EFRIS sectors, so check with your accountant how EFRIS applies to you.

How Uganda pays, and how you record it

BelloPOS does not process payments and is not connected to MTN MoMo, Airtel Money, banks or card machines. The customer pays the way they always do, and you pick the payment method on the sale, so every sale shows how it was paid. You can add your own payment methods to match how your shop gets paid.

  • Cash in shillings, with change shown on screen and a cash drawer
  • MTN MoMo, including MoMoPay merchant payments, added as its own method
  • Airtel Money, including Airtel Money Pay, added as another method
  • Bank app transfers and agency banking deposits
  • Debit and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard) on your own bank card machine
  • Any other method you take, added by you in a few clicks
  • Credit for regulars, settled at month-end or on payday (Go plan)
  • Accounts settled later by bank transfer for schools, hotels and NGOs (Go plan)

Because BelloPOS does not read your mobile money statements, check the sales recorded as MoMo and Airtel Money against your merchant statements at closing. A gap usually means a payment was recorded under the wrong method.

Bar and restaurant POS questions

Does my bar or restaurant need EFRIS?

URA lists accommodation and food services among the sectors that must use EFRIS whether or not they are VAT-registered. Whether your bar falls under that heading is a question for your accountant. Either way, BelloPOS does not issue EFRIS e-receipts or e-invoices, so those come from your EFRIS app, desktop client or EFD, while BelloPOS runs orders, stock and staff.

Can I keep running bills for tables?

Yes, with Pro. Each table keeps its own bill that waiters add rounds to through the evening from the till or their phones, and you print it when guests are ready to pay. For trusted regulars who settle later, Go adds credit accounts with limits, so the balance is always on screen and never sits on a piece of paper behind the counter.

How do I stop losses behind the counter?

Every barman and waiter signs in as themselves, so each sale, void and discount carries a name. Roles decide who can void a line, change a price or open the drawer. From Go, the activity log records sensitive actions with the time, and the shift close counts the drawer against the system and shows the sales of each person.

Does it track stock per bottle and per tot?

BelloPOS takes stock down by the unit you sell, so bottles, cans and crates are tracked as they go. You can set up tots of waragi or whisky as their own products and adjust bottle stock when a bottle is opened. Regular stock counts then show any gap between what the system expects and what is on the shelf.

Do orders go to the kitchen automatically?

Yes, with Pro. When a waiter sends an order from the till or their phone, the food lines print on the kitchen printer and drinks stay at the bar. Everything runs over your own Wi-Fi network, so service continues when the internet is down. Add a UPS for the main PC and printer, and the kitchen keeps receiving tickets during short power cuts.
