Features that fit the way Canadian shops run

A Canadian till has to cope with provincial tax differences, a mix of tap, debit and cash, and connections that are not always reliable outside the big cities. BelloPOS keeps everything on your own Windows PC or Mac, so checkout, stock updates and receipts work without the internet. Each product carries its own tax setting, so zero-rated groceries and taxable snacks can sit in the same basket, and the receipt shows your GST/HST number and tax lines. Barcodes scan from any USB or Bluetooth scanner, and you can print your own labels for items that arrive without one.

Behind the counter it is a full inventory app: stock levels, suppliers, purchase orders and low-stock alerts. Pro adds several tills in one store, a handheld cashier web app for the floor, customer credit for regulars, and wholesale price groups for contractors or other trade buyers. Ares, the built-in AI assistant, answers questions such as which products sold best last month in plain English. Invoices export to PDF, and backups keep your sales history safe for the years the CRA expects.

What Canadian owners use most

Offline checkout

Sell, print receipts and update stock with no internet connection. Your data stays on your computer, so an outage in a storm or a weak rural line never stops the queue. The internet is only needed to download the app and activate a paid key.

Tax per product

Set the GST, HST, PST or QST rates you use and assign the right one to each product. Mixed baskets are totalled correctly, and receipts show the tax lines with your GST/HST number. Test combined GST and PST setups with your accountant before you go live.

Barcodes and labels

Plug in any USB or Bluetooth scanner and start scanning; no drivers are needed. Print barcode and shelf labels from BelloPOS for products that arrive unlabelled, such as bulk goods, baked items or handmade pieces from local makers.

Customer accounts and trade prices

Let regulars and contractors buy on account and track what they owe. Wholesale price groups give trade customers their own prices automatically, and larger orders can be sent as PDF invoices with the buyer's name and payment terms.

Several tills and a handheld app

With Pro, one main computer holds the data and other tills connect to it, so a busy store can open a second lane. Staff can also ring up sales on the floor from a phone with the handheld cashier web app.

Canadian shops running BelloPOS

A convenience store in Scarborough, Toronto

A family-run corner store sells milk, snacks, phone cards and cleaning supplies. Every item is scanned, and the HST or zero rate comes from the product record, so the cashier never has to decide what is taxable. On a busy Friday night two tills run side by side, and the owner checks low-stock items in the morning before calling the distributor.

A gift shop in Kitsilano, Vancouver

A shop selling local ceramics, candles and cards charges GST and PST and keeps both tax lines on each receipt. Consignment pieces from local makers carry their own barcodes printed from BelloPOS. Every month, the best-sellers report shows which artists to reorder from and which stock has been sitting on the shelves since the holidays.

A hardware store in Red Deer, Alberta

Contractors buy on account and pay monthly, while walk-in customers pay by tap or cash. The owner sets a wholesale price group for the trade, so the right price appears as soon as the customer is selected. GST only applies here, and invoices for larger orders go out as PDFs with the buyer's name and payment terms.

A bakery in Halifax's North End

Bread is sold zero-rated, while single pastries and coffee are taxable, so each product carries its own tax setting. The power flickers during winter storms, but the till keeps working because nothing depends on the internet. At closing, the day's sales by payment method are compared with the debit terminal's batch report in a couple of minutes.

Runs anywhere
