BelloPOS for your trade
Free supermarket and grocery POS
Scan, total, print. A checkout built for a queue, and a free inventory desktop app behind it.
Free download for Windows · checking the latest release… · works offline

A grocery checkout is measured in items per minute, and every one of them starts with a barcode. BelloPOS works with any USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner straight out of the box: scan, and the product, price and tax land in the basket. Products without a barcode get one you print yourself, on labels from the app.
Behind the till it is a full inventory desktop app (stock levels, categories, suppliers and purchase orders), installed on your own PC in Morocco, where the data stays. The free lifetime licence covers checkout, receipts, barcodes and stock, so a small shop can run the whole thing without paying anything.
What you get
Barcode scanner support
Any USB or Bluetooth scanner works with no driver hunt. Scan to sell and scan again to receive a delivery, so stock and shelf agree.
Print your own barcode labels
Loose goods, repacked items and anything that arrived unlabelled get a barcode you generate and print from the app, in the label size you use.
Stock you can trust
Every sale and every purchase moves the count. See what is low before the shelf is empty, and check margins against what you actually paid your supplier.
Fast, offline checkout
Multiple tax rates, several payment methods and a customer screen, all running on the shop's PC, so the queue never waits on a connection.

A grocery and convenience store POS for Canadian independents
Independent grocers, corner stores and specialty markets are the backbone of many Canadian neighbourhoods, from a Korean grocery on Bloor Street to a South Asian market in Surrey or a dépanneur-style shop in Ottawa. Their checkout has to be fast and their margins are tight, so paying a monthly fee per till hurts. BelloPOS scans any barcode with a standard USB or Bluetooth scanner, pulls the price and tax from the product record, and totals the basket in seconds. Because it runs on the shop's own PC, the queue keeps moving even when the internet does not. The free Lite plan already covers checkout, receipts, barcodes and stock.
Grocery tax in Canada is a mix: basic groceries are generally zero-rated, while snacks, soft drinks and many household items are taxable. In BelloPOS each product carries its own tax setting, so the cashier never has to decide and the receipt shows the tax lines correctly. Your accountant should confirm which items are taxable in your province. Behind the counter, track stock by supplier, raise purchase orders to your distributor, print shelf labels for bulk and in-store items, and see which products sell fastest. Pro adds a second till for busy evenings and store credit for regular customers.
How Canadians pay, and how BelloPOS records it
Keep the payment terminal you already have from your bank or processor. BelloPOS records every method next to the sale, so your end-of-day totals match what landed in the bank.
- Interac debit, inserted or tapped
- Tap to pay with a card, phone or watch (Apple Pay, Google Pay)
- Visa, Mastercard and American Express credit cards
- Cash, with change worked out at the till
- Interac e-Transfer for deposits and invoiced orders
- Split payments, for example part cash and part debit
- Customer credit and house accounts for regulars and trade buyers
BelloPOS does not process card payments itself and is not connected to Moneris, Square or any other processor. You take the card on your own terminal and select the method in BelloPOS.
Grocery store POS questions
Can BelloPOS handle zero-rated and taxable items in the same sale?
Yes. Each product has its own tax setting, so milk and bread can be zero-rated while chips and pop carry GST, HST or PST, all in one basket. The receipt shows the tax lines. Which items are zero-rated is set by the CRA and your province, so have your accountant check your product tax settings once.
Which barcode scanners work?
Any USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner. Scanners behave like a keyboard, so there are no drivers to install: plug it in and scan. Products without a barcode, such as bulk nuts, produce or items packed in store, can get a barcode label printed from BelloPOS on a standard label printer.
What happens when the internet goes down?
Nothing changes at the till. BelloPOS runs on your own PC, Mac or Android tablet and does not need a connection to sell, print receipts or update stock. Your card terminal has its own connection, so if it goes down you can still take cash and record the sale normally in BelloPOS.
Can I run two checkouts?
Yes, with Pro. One main computer keeps all the data and the other tills connect to it on your local network, so stock and sales stay in sync between lanes. Staff can also use the handheld cashier web app on a phone to sell from the floor or at a sidewalk stand.
Can regular customers buy on credit?
Yes. Pro lets you open an account for a customer, record what they buy on credit and log their payments, so you always know who owes what. It is useful for neighbourhood regulars, restaurants that buy from you, or local businesses that settle at the end of the month.
